有的时候我们在学习古人做的器物，从它的造型，装饰釉色等等，想象一下古代陶工能做出历经千年依旧让我们感觉赏心悦目的器物，除了当时大背景下的影响，我想更重要的是他们每天生活在这样的环境中，每天专注在自己做的事情上，跟自然高度融合，那份单纯跟质朴才得以保留。

学陶做陶以来，我们也是一直沿用传统的草木灰为主要釉料来烧造器物。不同于古代的是，我们在不同的烧造环境中，尝试着各种可能性。经试验，不同类型植物的灰，产生的效果是截然不同的。有一些植物灰流动性特别强，有一些可以结出绚丽的晶花，有一些就显得很平淡无奇。同样是草木灰釉，结合不同器形与不同材料的运用，可以烧造出多样化的釉面效果。

我们立窑在慈城，也会致力于寻找当地的材料，做具有当地人文特色的器物。跟老师系统地学习了能独立完成做陶的手艺，也希望能在自己的有生之年，把这样的手艺传承下去，把我们对传统手艺的执着追求，延续给下一代。

When we study the vessels crafted by ancient artisans, examining their forms, decorations, and glazes, it is awe-inspiring to imagine how these creations, enduring for millennia, still resonate with a timeless aesthetic. Beyond the historical and cultural backdrop of their era, I believe what truly set these artisans apart was their daily immersion in a harmonious environment, their unwavering focus on their craft, and their profound connection with nature. It was this simplicity and authenticity that allowed their works to retain such purity and depth.

Since delving into the art of ceramics, we have adhered to the traditional use of wood ash as the primary glaze material for our creations. Unlike ancient times, however, we experiment with a variety of firing conditions to explore new possibilities. Through countless trials, we have discovered that the ash from different types of plants yields remarkably diverse results. Some plant ashes exhibit a strong fluidity, while others produce stunning crystalline patterns, and yet others present a more understated, unassuming effect. 

Even within the realm of wood ash glazes, when combined with varied vessel forms and material applications, one can achieve a rich array of surface textures and finishes.

Our wood-fired kiln, nestled in Cicheng, is dedicated to sourcing local materials, crafting pieces that embody the unique cultural essence of the region. Under the guidance of a skilled mentor, I have systematically honed my craft, reaching a point where I can independently create ceramics. It is my hope to preserve and pass on these traditional skills within my lifetime, sharing this steadfast pursuit of artistry with the next generation and ensuring that the spirit of our heritage endures.
